Reiki Energy and Animals

Many reiki practitioners receive animal clients as well as human ones. I know a few who choose to work only with animals!  I mentioned briefly in a prior post how reiki energy is more passive, and because it doesn't involve a spiritual being, animals tend to be more open to receiving this form of healing. Animals are also very present in the here and now. Their egos are minimal, and the lower on the food chain you go, the less ego is there at all. I believe this is the key factor in how easy it is to receive any kind of healing.  Less ego=more reception. A few examples from my own experience with animals:

Insects (I have not practiced healing on insects but am able to communicate with animals in general) respond to communication as one voice/mind, even if there are a whole swarm of them! They don't seem to have the same ideas about being separate that one human being (or cat or dog) has from another.

When sending reiki energy to either of my two pythons, their response is immediate. Reptiles are more receptive to energy than mammals. They notice when that energy changes.  My female python, Gaia, usually responds to reiki healing by immediately becoming still. Five minutes into it, she is almost asleep. After 20 minutes, she will poop. There is little resistance in her to the clearing nature of reiki.

Meanwhile Uxia, my cat, takes a longer time to settle down and recognize that reiki healing is taking place. When she feels she has had enough, she gets up and walks away.
